What does good science communication look like in a time characterized by multiple crises and challenges? The aim of the Wisskomm Connected Conference, which will take place on September 11th and 12th, 2024 at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Berlin, is to explore this question and find answers to it.
The conference will bring together stakeholders from science and practical field to discuss current approaches, topics and solutions in science communication. Both thematically and structurally, the conference program is broadly based. A wide variety of topics and formats will be offered in order to enter into an exchange with each other. For example, double keynotes, workshops and discussion panels offer the opportunity to talk about topics such as science communication in rural areas, dealing with disinformation or AI in science communication.
The conference is organized by the Transfer Unit Science Communication, a joint project of Wissenschaft im Dialog and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The RHET AI Center will be represented at the conference by Markus Gottschling. He will be part of a panel discussion on the topic of "Künstliche Intelligenz in der Wissenschaftskommunikation – Potenziale und Herausforderungen". Gesine Born (Bilderinstitut), Nicola Kuhrt (MedWatch.de, Table.Media) and Dr. Esther Greussing (Technische Universität Braunschweig) will join Markus Gottschling in the discussion. The panel discussion will take place on September 11 from 2 to 3 pm. More information about the conference and the program can be found on the conference website.
